ABOUT

A SHORT STORY

Together, we create.

EMILEE DZIUK

Born and raised in Utah, as homegrown as they come, I decided to venture from the small town to the big city.  My first venture was to the land of the hot (and not), St. George, Utah.  Stumbling upon a bit of an education and a great position at a small company working as a graphic design intern, I then decided to walk the path of an artist.  I moved to Salt Lake City in the winter of my 20th year.  Again, I found myself stumbling around in the cold, echoing halls of the art building at the University of Utah.  I happened to take a bookmaking class that changed my course of interest towards the art of printing.  After 4 years of late nights, espresso and 100s of pounds of paper, I graduated from the University of Utah in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts emphasis in Printmaking.  During the course of that 4 years, I met several talented artists who soon became confidants and close friends.  In 2009, Cameron Bentley conjured up a building and started running a small print collective, Copper Palate Press.  In 2010, I was asked to be a part of it. Slowly gaining credibility and working closely with people in the community, Copper Palate Press began to thrive.  Here we are in 2017, still gaining momentum and making big moves in the SLC art scene as well as expanding throughout the West Coast. Currently,  I work as an independent contractor, doing jobs such as specialty letterpress, screenprinting tshirts, graphic and web design, business collateral, and installation work. Check out my friends at Copper Palate Press below.
